A SONIC BLUE "1963" DOUBLE BOUND T CASTER

This job was really fun. The first double bound single cuttaway from the Revelator shop turned out to be sweeter than I had hoped. I started with an extremely light weight piece of southern Swamp Ash. The body was shaped to feature the correct hump, control cavity shape, dows, and tooling signatures. After routing for the pickups and wire channels the body was routed front & back and the white binding was applied. The switch tip is old-school Tele barrel style. It features threaded 60’s Telecaster bidge saddles and a Fender Pat. Pend. Bridge. Randy requested a real pragmatic mod to his wiring that I may employ on my next personal guitar. It was wired so that the heavy knurl flat-top knob closest to his hand would be the volume. I utilized a linear 250K CTS pot that would allow him to do Gatton swells with ease. Next in line is the tone knob and then the 3 position CRL switch located next to the jack where it can’t be accidently switched by frenzied Rock and Roll or Blues rythym chuggin’. The pickups are both Seymour Duncan Antiquity early 50's Telecaster pickups. I think these may be a bit under-rated as everyone’s lookin for the new pups on the block. They sound, (and look), GREAT in this instrument & provide all the tone this guitar can handle. It has a real nice sting in the bridge without being shrill and sounds like the blues on "11" in the neck. My favorite on this guitar is the middle position sound. It really has a nice rockabilly tone. ............. The Mighty E
